Police Beat – March 5

ASU Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

  • An unknown person or persons assaulted a 19-year-old undergraduate woman Tuesday around 9:30 a.m. near the Computing Commons on the Tempe campus, according to a police report.

    The woman was walking to class when an unidentified man squeezed her left buttock twice and walked away in an unknown direction, police reported.

    There are currently no suspects, leads or witnesses, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage to a trashcan on the east side of Cowden Family Resources building on the Tempe campus on Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., according to a police report.

    Estimated damages to the Big Belly trash container are $1,500 and there are no suspects, leads or witnesses, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft by stealing a bicycle from the south side of the Taylor Place residential complex on the Downtown campus, sometime between Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 7:30 a.m., according to a police report.

    The bicycle, which belonged to an 18-year-old undergraduate woman, was estimated to be worth $332 and there are currently no suspects, leads or witnesses, according to a police report.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

  • A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. near South Mill Avenue and East University Drive on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a prior warrant, according to a police report.

    The man was pulled over for a traffic violation and investigation revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Mesa, police reported.

    The suspect was detained by police and found to have a usable quantity of marijuana, according to a report

    Marijuana and a glass pipe were also found during a subsequent search of the man’s vehicle and he was arrested, transported and booked at Tempe City Jail, police reported.
