A great streak ended Thursday.
UA lost to UCLA, 75-69, in the first round of the Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Tournament, ending the school’s run of 25 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
This comes just months after ASU football recorded back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 1946-1947.
Seriously, what the heck is going on with big-time collegiate sports in Arizona?
The ASU men’s basketball team is on the verge of locking up its second consecutive bid to the Big Dance while UA football just had its best two seasons since the ‘90s.
It feels like my sporting world has spun completely upside down.
ASU basketball has taken six of seven from UA, and the Territorial Cup has gone to Tucson the past two years.
That can’t be right, can it?
Feel free to ask ASU senior wide receiver Kyle Williams and former UA coach Lute Olson to confirm it for you.
I guess all I can do now is tip my hat to coaches Herb Sendek and Mike Stoops.
