Szakacsy’s departure sudden but not surprising

Samson Szakacsy is moving on from ASU football, and it’s only right to wish him the best.

He is known as being an individual, even a ‘Renaissance Man’ at times.

2011 would have been his senior season at ASU, but arm problems and the presence of Brock Osweiler and Steven Threet kept him off the field for most of this year.

Szakacsy was heralded as one of the most accurate passers in Southern California Prep history. He also was a very mobile quarterback and was supposed to be a solid fit in Dennis Erickson’s offense.

He started the final two games of 2009, recording 362 passing yards and four touchdowns.

But for a quarterback that was already lacking arm strength, those arm injuries made it tough for him to be competitive.

They kept him out of the quarterback battle over the summer and on the bench for the majority of 2010.

Szakacsy told The Arizona Republic that he plans to travel to Jerusalem after graduation, just another step in an already interesting life.
