Police Beat: April 1

ASU Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

  • An unidentified male committed assault at the Hayden Library on ASU’s Tempe campus at approximately 2:43 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.The man placed his hand on the middle thigh of a 21-year-old ASU student while she was sitting at a desk in the southeast corner of the quiet study area on the second floor, police reported.

    The female student is willing to aid in prosecution, according to a report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage at Vista del Sol on the Tempe campus at approximately 10:58 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.The person or persons threw an object at the exterior window of a room at the complex, causing it to shatter, police reported.

    The total estimated damage is $250, according to the report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage at Parking Structure 1 on the Tempe campus between the hours of 7:40 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police report.The person or persons cut the rear left tire of a vehicle parked in the structure and scratched a graphic expletive into the driver-side door, police reported.

    The total estimated damage is $500, according to the report.

    There are no leads, suspects or witnesses at this time, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft from Lot 2 on the West campus between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on March 21, according to a police report.The person or persons removed a tailgate from a pick-up truck parked in the area, police reported.

    The total estimated loss is $1,324.31, according to the report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft from Gammage Auditorium on the Tempe campus between 7:20 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.The person or persons removed four chrome-colored wheel caps from a vehicle that was parked on the west side of the building, police reported.

    The total estimated loss is $500, according to the report.
