It’s time to dispel the notion that Joe Flacco isn’t an elite quarterback.
The man proved it all postseason and did so once again last night as the Baltimore Ravens knocked off the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 to win Super Bowl XLVII Sunday.
Yes, maybe he was a little off when he pronounced himself elite months ago. But his 11 touchdown passes while throwing zero interceptions in the 2012-13 postseason does it justice.
The only other quarterback to accumulate those postseason numbers was Joe Montana.
Yes, Joe Montana.
And to the people who say the Super Bowl MVP had one lucky postseason, just look at the numbers.
Flacco is the only quarterback to win a postseason game in his first five seasons.
Flacco beat Denver at Mile High and New England at GIllette Stadium.
Who are the quarterbacks of those teams?
Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, who are arguably the two best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Joe Flacco is now a Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP and elite quarterback, and I’d be glad to have him suit up for my favorite NFL team any given Sunday.
