Within the three years since its premiere, “Walking Dead” has become a TV staple in most U.S. households. The show’s fans have become intertwined with the characters, their stories and have even mourned the loss of many beloved (and not-so-beloved) characters.
The season three finale left fans reeling and wondering what will be in store for season four, which premieres Oct. 13 on AMC. An extended feature look into the show was released last week to give fans insight on what to expect this season.
This trailer alluded to a hint, in which the prison that Rick and the rest of the group have used as a safe haven is likely to be overrun by walkers – and the infiltration may have come from someone within prison walls.
At the end of season three, which highlighted the Governor’s tirade and brutal slaying of Woodbury innocents, audiences saw that the residents of the self-made city were going to evade his violence and seek refuge at the prison.
This ending also brought fans the death of one of the more principle characters, Andrea.
Season four will pick up with all of the former Woodbury residents in Rick’s group’s prison and display some new characters, testing the dynamics of all the people in the prison. However, the feature suggests that one should not get too attached to these new characters; their lives may be short-lived.
The recently released extension features commentary from many of the show’s staple actors such as Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene), Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier) and Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene).
Spoilers revealed that there would be an addition of even more walkers, a threat both beyond and behind prison walls and most shockingly for fans… Rick could lose his hand in an epic battle against the Governor.
The aforementioned fight is detailed in the comic book series, and it looks as though it might play out in the show as well, judging by a clip showing Rick in agony with what could be a serious injury.
There is also likely to be a power struggle in the first few episodes as the new Woodbury residents adjust to living under Rick’s rules.
Season four looks to be a shocking, intense and very dark season, and it will most likely leave fans wanting more.
“The Walking Dead” is always full of twists and turns, so one can never really count on spoilers. However, waiting for the show’s premiere gives fans a glimpse, albeit a small one, of what they have been looking forward to for months.
