The ASU Undergraduate Student Government approved a committee to research a new student fee for athletics.
The newly formed committee was approved Tuesday and will be headed by Sen. Devon Mills.
It will look into possible costs, benefits to students and where the money could go.
USG President Jordan Davis said during the meeting that ASU athletics has a $10 million deficit, and fees could go to meet this need.
Davis proposed that a possible $75-per-semester fee be put in place for every student.
The fee might also secure student football season tickets for home games for all students, Davis said.
“We are also working on getting every student in the student body season tickets to every single football game,” he said. “Baseball, softball and all the other sports are already free.”
Davis said they are in negotiations with athletics and administration to see what they can work out and ways to increase the size of the student section.
After the meeting, Davis said the student athletic fee is under research by the newly formed committee and nothing has been decided yet.
