Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:
- A 27-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Oct. 27 on the 700 block of South Mill Avenue on suspicion of marijuana possession, urinating in public and interfering with police, according to a police report.
Police said they saw the man standing in the Jack in the Box parking lot near an SUV and fiddling with the zipper on his pants.
Officers noticed a puddle of urine at the man’s feet, according to the report.
They asked the man to step away from the car several times before he finally moved, police reported.
Police said the man refused to give them his name, its spelling or any form of identification until they had asked many times for the information.
Eventually, the man told officers his name, and they were able to search for the man in a database, according to the report.
Police said they found a bag of marijuana in his front coin pocket when they searched him.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
- A 24-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Oct. 26 at South College Avenue and East Baseline Road on suspicion of two counts of marijuana possession, according to a police report.
Police said the man was drifting into the other lane of traffic when they stopped him.
The man was not wearing a seatbelt, his car smelled like marijuana and his eyes were bloodshot, police reported.
The man told officers he had come from his father’s house, but he later said he had come from his friend’s house in Mesa, according to the report.
He also said he was on his way to his mother’s house, but he later told officers that his mother lived in New York, police said.
Police reported the man’s field sobriety test showed he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but he refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.
The man refused to wear handcuffs when police told him he was under arrest, according to the report.
Police said the man sat down and interlocked his fingers underneath his body, which meant the police had to pry his hands apart.
While officers tried to do it, the man rolled over onto an officer’s wrist and gave him a contusion, police reported.
When officers searched the man’s car, they found marijuana, brass knuckles, about $1,900 in cash and a loaded gun, according to the report.
Police said the man told them he intended to bake the marijuana into brownies and that he was occasionally the middleman in drug deals.
He also told police he had withdrawn the money from an ATM, but his receipts showed only $300 was withdrawn, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released, according to the report.
