Tempe Police reported the following incident Thursday:
- A 34-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Jan. 12 on West Third Street and South Ash Avenue on suspicion of bicycle theft and drug possession, according to a police report.A man contacted police after his bike was stolen and told them the man was still in the area, according to the report.
When officers contacted the man they found many burglary tools in his possession, police said.
The man said he stole the bicycle, because it looked easy, and he was tired of walking, the report said.
When police searched the man, an officer found a small pouch of methamphetamine and two syringes inside his coat pocket, according to the report.
Police said he admitted to using the syringes to ingest the meth.
The man had also violated two probation warrants, according to the report.
Police said the stolen bicycle was recovered and returned to the victim, the report said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
