Tempe Police reported the following incident Tuesday:
- A 23-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Feb. 1 on the 1300 block of South Priest Drive on suspicion of giving a false report to a law enforcement official, being a fugitive of justice, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report. Police contacted the woman as a passenger of a vehicle during a routine traffic stop, police said.The woman voluntarily provided her identity to police but was found to have been lying to officers after an investigation revealed her true identity, police said.
A routine records check found that the woman had an outstanding warrant from Avondale city court, the report said.
The woman was then placed under arrest because of her outstanding warrant, police said.
During a post-arrest search of the woman, police discovered a cigar wrapper in her purse that contained a usable amount of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, the report said.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, booked and held, according to the report.
