Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 21-year-old California man was arrested Thursday on the 2100 block of East University Drive on suspicion of driving under the influence, dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.
The man, who was driving a white Toyota pick-up truck, rear-ended a vehicle that was waiting to turn left at the intersection of University Drive and Price Road, police said.
When police arrived, the two vehicles were trying to move out of the traffic, according to the report.
The man was following the vehicle he had rear-ended when the other driver stopped at a red light, the report said.
The man, however, did not stop and hit the vehicle again, police said.
An officer stopped the man and saw he had poor balance, poor coordination, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, according to the report.
The man failed various field sobriety tests and police saw he was wearing his shirt inside out, police reported.
A search of his person revealed a small plastic bag with a white substance believed to be methamphetamine in his right front pocket, the report said.
A search of the vehicle revealed a crystal pipe with marijuana residue, police said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
- A 23-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Friday on the 5100 block of South Mill Avenue on suspicion of domestic violence assault, according to a police report.
Officers contacted the woman after her boyfriend told police she punched him on the left side of his mouth with a closed fist, the report said.
The woman left a dime-size contusion on the inside of his mouth, police reported.
The victim told police that they had been living together for approximately a year, according to the report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police said.
The woman was later transported to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office after banging her head on the wall and attempting to harm herself, according to the report.
