With the growing impact of money over politics, as a college student, I feel as if I lack the financial resources to be heard.
The fact that I can’t even get in contact with my state representative is absurd and now I have to compete with undisclosed donors that are willing to “contribute” hundreds of thousands of dollars. I thought that politicians were supposed to be representing the people and not just their money.
And to put the cherry on top, now it’s getting harder for other college students to even vote. The McCutcheon decision does indeed support freedom of speech, but only for 1 percent that can afford it.
