Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 22-year-old Mesa man was arrested June 22 at South Mill Avenue and West 4th Street on suspicion of marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license and being a fugitive from justice, according to a police report.Police noticed his car when it drove by a fight officers had just broken up and a passenger began making finger guns and a “pop pop pop” sound, the report said.
Officers determined that the man’s vehicle had a suspended registration and searched him for a weapon because of the gun gesture, police reported.
The man said he had marijuana in his front pocket, and the officer saw a orange medicine bottle containing a usable quantity of the drug, police reported.
He said he had a medical marijuana card, but it wasn’t in his car or with him and he couldn’t remember the number on the card, according to the report. This left officers no way to confirm or deny if he had a card, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge.
- A 25-year-old California woman was arrested June 19 on the 5000 block of South Arizona Mills Circle on suspicion of shoplifting, according to the police report.The woman came into the Ross store at Arizona Mills and immediately began putting things in a suitcase, police reported.
She also stripped naked and began putting on clothes from the store, according to the police report. The woman then left the store without paying for the items in her suitcase or on her, the report said.
Store employees stopped her and contacted police, who transported her to the Tempe City Jail, police reported. She was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
A Phoenix man was arrested June 17 on the 1800 block of East Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of shoplifting, police reported.
The man went into a store, took a Nabi 2 Charger Kit out of its package and stuck it down his pants, police reported.
A loss prevention officer caught him, removed the device, which was worth about $40, from the man’s underwear and returned it to the store, according to the report.
The man began complaining of chest pain and was transported to Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, police reported. After being medically cleared, he was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, the report said.
