Advertising free speech
(In response to Dante Graves’ Thursday column “CBS to air pro-life ad during Super Bowl.”)
You find the pro-life ad to be anti-equality and homophobic. I find your article to be anti free speech.
You explicitly stated that “it’s scary to think of what else money can now buy, particularly the opinions of the public” in reference to a ministry buying its way into a $2.5 million commercial. We live in the United States of America.
In the United States, the First Amendment of our Bill of Rights allows anyone to speak freely. That protection extends to this ministry and to the millions of Americans who are pro-life.
If you are offended, don't watch CBS. I'm sure you can watch the Super Bowl on a different channel.

Cleaning up fraternities
In my time as a student here, I have read countless articles and letters from members of fraternities and sororities who constantly brag about how much community service they have done.
If I could make one suggestion to their members regarding community service, it would be this: Clean up the frat houses along Veteran's Way if you want to do some charity work, they’re an eye sore.
Every time I walk by, I see garbage strewn everywhere, old mattresses left outside, and a general disrespect for the area around the houses,
especially the parking lot facing Veteran's Way. I have to say that I am not entirely convinced that life in the frat houses involves any concern for the surrounding community when I see that disgusting garbage pile.
