I’ll admit it — I’m slightly obsessed with the Olympics.

Sure, I love seeing NHL talent represent their countries and watch in amazement as figure skaters throw each other into the air and spin more times than I can count.

I even screamed with delight when those South Korean speed skaters crashed into each other, allowing Apollo Anton Ohno to take the silver medal, and only felt slightly bad about it because of my sometimes beyond-intense pride in being American.

But one sport never fails to absolutely enthrall me: curling.

I want to meet the person who invented this sport and shake his or her hand, because someone who can combine an oversized stone, brooms and a giant target on ice into a sport is nothing short of a genius.

Yes, the concept of pushing a stone down the ice and using the brooms to direct it toward the right place on the target sounds boring. In fact, it looks like a sport that requires very little athleticism, other than some arm strength to do that intense sweeping.

But I can’t look away.

Watching that rock glide gracefully down the ice is mesmerizing, and I would love to take a crack at the sport sometime. To be quite honest, it looks like tons of fun.

Maybe I’ll start training for the 2014 Olympics. Who’s with me?
