That trend of facing tough competition in the Pac-10 for the No. 1 ASU women’s golf team continues Monday when it heads to Tucson to take part in the 26th Annual Wildcat Invitational.
The tournament, played at the 6,146-yard, par-72 Arizona National Golf Club, will feature a 16-team field with six of the nation’s top-10 squads taking part — Pac-10 foes UA (No. 18), Cal (No. 15), Oregon, Stanford (No. 25), USC (No. 7) and Washington are among them.
The defending national champion Sun Devils will try to improve upon a fourth-place finish in its opening tournament two weeks ago, the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
ASU was led in the tournament by senior Juliana Murcia, who tied for seventh after winning medalist honors at the event last season.
