Nancy Sinatra made boots sexy to walk around in with her song, “These Boots Were Made For Walking.” Now ASU students can take a tip from Nancy and walk around in their own pair this fall. Below is a guide to this season’s hottest boots for both sexes.

For the girls –

Ankle boots – They look great with skinny jeans, shorts and skirts. There are many different styles for ankle boots this year. Some of them are professional, some of them sexy (peep toe ankle boots are really popular in Hollywood) and others rocker like. Christy Leiter, the store manager of Payless Shoes on Baseline Road and Stapley Drive, says “ankle boots are popular for the more mature, professional women. The Fioni ankle boot has even been featured in Woman’s Day magazine.” Both Payless and Kohl’s offer many of the ankle boot styles at decent prices from $30 to $40.

Knee-high boots – Kneehigh boots are great for covering up chilly legs in the cold. Many brands have also created some new styles this year. Airwalk at Payless has made a sweater knee-high boot for $40 and Kohl’s offers the stylish stretch black boots from $45 to $75. Tights are a great add on with knee high boots.

The ever popular UGGs – The UGGs trend continues. The classic short boot in sand has been seen all over campus. Don’t have a pair? Famous Footwear sells them for $129.99.

Cowgirl boots – Grab a pair and hit up the honky-tonk bars. Saba’s Western stores and the Boot Barn offer a wide variety for any cowgirl. Prices range from $80 to $300.

For the guys –

Semi-casual boots – These boots look great under a pair of jeans and are a nice way to tie an outfit together for a first date. “Casual boots by American Eagle and Airwalk are very popular among the guys,” Leiter says. Kohl’s sells Skechers Sergeant’s Boots for $60 and Payless’s Airwalk and American Eagle boots run from $30 to $45.

Hiking boots – For the avid outdoorsman, hiking boots leave the guesswork out of what shoes to wear when trekking the Superstition Mountains. There are a variety of hiking boots in stores but Famous Footwear sells a pair of Rugged Outback Apex Waterproof boots for $40. Now if it starts raining, the boots won’t be ruined.

Rocker/Motorcycle boots – For many girls, nothing’s sexier than seeing a man wear black biker boots. They exude toughness and sexiness. Tilly’s sells a pair of Skechers Men’s Villous black boots for $100.

“I got my boots from Shirts ‘n’ Things and wear them to metal concerts,” Kevin Lawrence, a marketing senior says.

Cowboy boots – Cowboy it up this fall. Just like the cowgirl boots, cowboy boots can be found at Saba’s Western stores and the Boot Barn. Prices range from $80 to $805.
