The absence of that constant droning-on about Brett Favre and the NFL’s Green Bay Packers has left a void. First it was just annoying. Then it became irresistible.

That “will he or won’t he” and “will they or won’t they” talk, covered endlessly by that eternally self-promoting network, became my addiction. And now that it’s gone, all I have been left to wonder about is uneven parallel bars.

Not even the juicy stories of the Olympic Games have curbed my longing for the untold details of the Favre fiasco. Are those Chinese gymnasts too young? Are Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt human? And why can’t the U.S. relay runners get some Stickum for the baton?

Thankfully, I finally found the perfect prescription (though it’s not more cow bell). It’s more college football. The Sun Devils start off easy versus NAU, but it’s going to get really interesting really fast.
