Sorry in advance, folks, but not everyone can play [Sun] Devils’ advocate.
After months of doing close to nothing, the ASU football team’s offense has given no reason to think it will do anything when it matters most – Saturday in Tucson.
It’s become so dreadful “Who’s calling the plays,” is beginning to resemble and Abbott and Costello routine.
It’s become so dreadful, I can picture a certain video-game trash talker saying to coach Dennis Erickson, “Your offense is offensive.”
It’s become so dreadful, you have to start wondering where Erickson is in the five stages of grief.
After a 28-0 loss at USC on Oct. 11, the apparently offensive-minded coach said, “We’re going to stay the course. The only thing you can do is practice [with] the same work ethic, keep doing the same things [and] just keep hammering away.”
Denial in the Desert.
Monday, Erickson was asked for the 1,000th time about the offensive struggles. He said, “I wish I knew. If it were just one thing, we could change it, but it’s not.”
Depression in the Desert.
