“Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future”
Published On:
Wednesday, January 28, 2009The duo The Bird and The Bee’s new album is okay. The curse of the sophomore slump keeps this album from being great. While the album has no particular tracks that stand out as bad, it doesn’t have any that stand out as great either.
The second album has the same quirky beeps, boops and dreamy quality of the self-titled first album, but none of the catchiness that created endless loops of music in a listeners head for days after a song ended.
The album is likeable — it just doesn’t live up to it’s older sibling. While a treat for fans of the band, this probably won’t be the album to garner them any new fans.
