There are so many internet celebrities that it’s hard to tell the crap from the creative; the ingenious juice from the crude and creepy remains. One internet celebrity has made the most of his cyber talents.
That would be Ze Frank, and those talents would be on display at zefrank.com.
There is much to offer at www.zefrank.com. A serialized internet show, a gallery, animal noises, flake makers, toilet paper, monsters and an educational video on how to “Impress Your Date.” Amongst all the golden ideas and activities is one action item that has stood out: the earth sandwich.
“The fact that the earth has never been a sandwich is probably why things are so fucked up,” Frank says on “the show with zefrank.” The idea was to get two of Frank’s more-than-dedicated fans to each place a piece of bread on opposite sides of the earth at the same time.
For instance, the opposite of Tempe is somewhere in the Indian Ocean, so ASU had to quietly bow out at the beginning.
The winners were announced on June 12, 2006. Two brothers had documented their travels to Spain, where the first piece of baguette was placed. The other piece was on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand.
Watching the video gives viewers a fuzzy sense of completeness and humanity.
Find “If the Earth Were a Sandwich” and episodes of the show at www.zefrank.com. There might have also been a song...
“If the Earth were a sandwich /We’d get along so well/ We could feed everybody/ with a piece of ourselves. As I lay this bread on the ground/ I know my job ain’t done, but/ If the Earth were a sandwich/ We would all be one...sandwich.”
