Former Cowboys’ wide receiver Terrell Owens’ new deal is equivalent to a star pitcher’s going from the Yankees to the A’s.
It’s a downgrade and a slap in the face.
Jerry Jones said the biggest reason he made the decision to cut Terrell Owens was his belief in receiver Roy Williams, according to the Dallas Morning News.
But everything that is being said about Owens doesn’t quite measure up.
“Well, I think Terrell is a natural leader,” Jones told ProFootballTalk.com. “He has that kind of charisma and walks the talk, so to speak. He is very much a dedicated, hard worker in this business that’s very physical and calls you to do things that aren’t natural.”
Then what’s the real reason? Locker-room chemistry? Romo and Witten’s alleged secret game plans that excluded Owens from getting the ball? Or is it all of the above?
So if it’s not his attitude, his athletic abilities or suggestions from other players, Jerry Jones should man up and admit the real reason for letting him go.
Good luck filling the receiving and touchdown productions of T.O.
