Yeah Yeah Yeahs - “It’s Blitz!”
Score: 4.5 out of 5
“It’s Blitz!” is a definite departure for the group Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen O.’s voice is still distinctive and lovely in almost any setting, but the music is much less calling for a riot and banshee screams of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s earlier work. In fact this album is quite soft and actually seems to excel most when it’s at its softest with songs like “Little Shadows,” and “Skeletons.”
The first single off the album, “Zero,” is practically a dance song, and a good one at that. This song is doubtlessly going to be tweaked, remixed and aired in clubs this summer.
For fans of the band this album may come as a bit of a surprise, but a good one. For those new to the band, or who have only heard the radio singles, this may be a good time to look into Yeah Yeah Yeahs, for their dancier tracks or for their mellower sounding tracks, they won’t disappoint.
