It’s going to be like practice, but “a little more fun.”

Instead of going through the motions of its everyday workout routine on Tuesday, the Sun Devil softball team will have another chance to employ its skills — this time in the form of a doubleheader against University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

“We’re going to have a good week at practice,” junior infielder Katie Crabb said. “We play UNLV on Tuesday in a doubleheader, and that’s going to be a learning day as well. It will be like another practice but a little more fun. So, we’re excited for this week.”

With a win against No. 5 UCLA and two losses to the No. 4 Washington Huskies last weekend, the Sun Devils are ready to take what they’ve learned into tomorrow’s game.

“This will be a big week because we have the double header Tuesday, and they’re a good team, and then we head right into a game against UA,” freshman pitcher Hillary Bach said.

Bach has been nothing short of dominant in her first year in the circle for the Sun Devils. The freshman is 18-2 with a 2.29 ERA.

The Sun Devil bats faltered over the weekend as they faced one of the nation’s best pitchers in UW’s Danielle Lawrie. ASU was just 12 for 50 (.240) against the Huskies. Overall, the team is batting at a .331 clip this season.

Senior outfielder Kaitlin Cochran, a top-25 finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award, is batting .467 to pace the Sun Devil offense. She has 16 home runs and 49 RBIs.

UNLV comes into the series after a 2-1 loss in their Mountain West home opener to San Diego State on Saturday and a 5-0 loss to the Aztecs on Sunday.

The matchups between ASU and UNLV are nonconference tilts.
The first of the two games will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Farrington Stadium.
