It’s that time of the year again.

The time for me to feel that awkward uncertainty and hold back the usual overly confident attitude I bring up in any ordinary conversation about my hometown.

Baseball season: The only time of the year when I get a little hesitant about telling people I’m from San Diego.

Yes, I’m a Padres fan.

Born and raised.

And, yes, I’ve entertained the criticism that comes with living in America’s finest city and supporting one of America’s biggest let downs of a team — especially from those of you in New York.

This is a team best known for its unpredictable play and, most of the time, its unacceptable season outcomes.

Last year, the Padres ended the season with a 68-99 overall record, and after starting this season off as potential World Series contenders, they are reverting back to traditional form.

In their last six games, they’ve won only one game — at least they’re consistent.

But as the season continues, so will the roller-coaster ride that is the San Diego Padres’ performance.

This week, it’s the Rockies, and depending on whether they decide to show up to play in Colorado, it could turn into a much-needed series to put San Diego back on the map.
