If you don’t watch hockey, start.

Following a thrilling late goal in Tuesday night’s game between the Rangers and Capitals, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman got the dream matchup that should bring his sport some much needed publicity.

A Capitol goal with 4:59 left in the third period ensured a faceoff between the past two MVPs, the Caps’ Alex Ovechkin and the Penguins’ Sidney Crosby.

Surprisingly, the winning goal in Tuesday’s contest did not come off the stick of the young phenom, Ovechkin.

It was the 39-year-old Sergei Fedorov who answered the call as he has done so many times before. He became the oldest player in history to score a game-seven-winning goal in the process.

It also capped off — excuse the terrible pun — a come-from-behind series win in which Washington had to overcome a 3-1 deficit.

And the Rangers became only the sixth team in NHL playoff history to blow such a lead.

So if you are not tuning in to the NBA playoffs because your beloved Suns are searching for a retirement community — or at least should be — then give the puck a chance, and you won’t be let down.
