Selena Roberts just needs to shut the front door.

If you know what I’m saying.

First of all, I’d like to preface this by saying that I respect Roberts’ work as a journalist. It’s obvious she’s done an exhaustive — and damn near disgusting — search into A-Rod’s past.

But this weekend she went too far.

With her A-Rod book’s coming out soon, she’s gone from interviewer to interviewee. The results smashed her credibility as a journalist.

She’s overstepped her bounds as an objective reporter and become nothing more than a glorified gossiper.

Roberts’ quote from the Associated Press says it all: “He went through a phase where, I think, and maybe he’s still going through the phase, I don’t knaow, where he really, I think, felt as if he had transcended baseball and reached a different level,” Roberts said.

Key words: “I think” and “I don’t know.”

Even she admits she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Why buy the book?

I mean, who cares if A-Rod hung out with strippers and played poker? Why is it such a big deal he was infatuated with Madonna?

If A-Rod were smart, he’d hire someone to dig up all the dirt on Roberts’ personal life. Only then, I think, would Roberts
remember the true purpose of journalism.
