It’s going to be hard being a Suns fan the next couple seasons, because this team is officially rebuilding.
The artist formerly known as The Big Shaqtus was dealt to King James’ squad for virtually nothing last week, which admits the giant experiment did not work.
Now, it’s only a matter of time before Amar’e Stoudemire gets traded as well.
He’s clearly unhappy in Phoenix and will walk away after the 2009-10 season, so the Suns might as well get something in return for one of the best offensive power forwards in the NBA.
It looked like his destination would be Golden State on draft night and that the Suns would get sharpshooter Stephen Curry, the No. 7 overall pick, as part of a return package.
But the Warriors have denied those rumors, saying that Curry can go buy a house and get settled in the Bay Area.
That doesn’t mean Stoudemire will stay in Phoenix — it just means that specific deal seems to be dead.
And don’t be surprised if Steve Nash gets shipped off as well, because I’m sure he’s feeling like he did not sign up for a franchise that is blowing things up and starting over.
You might want keep a roster handy next season, because there will be a lot of new faces on the Suns team in 2009-10.
