Tempe police have arrested a man who’s suspected of conspiring to commit a murder-for-hire while incarcerated, according to a Tempe police report.
Jermorrow Hendrix, 36, was arrested late Friday morning on suspicion of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, police reported.
Investigation by Tempe police revealed that Hendrix, while in prison at a Maricopa County jail, conspired with another inmate, age 22, and was planning to kill a 22-year-old woman the man was connected to, the report stated.
The woman was planning to testify against Hendrix’s fellow inmate in the upcoming trial of a sexual assault case that occurred in Tempe, according to the police report.
None of the people involved have ties to ASU, said Sgt. Steve Carbajal, police spokesman.
An investigation revealed that Hendrix received payment from his co-conspirator on his county inmate booking account, police reported.
He was arrested at the Arizona State Prison in Florence where he was scheduled to be released Saturday and booked and held at the Tempe City Jail, the report stated.
