For the first time in five years, the ASU women’s soccer team is ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 Poll.
The poll currently puts the Sun Devils (7-1-2) at No. 20 after they debuted at No. 19 last week.
The seven wins that the team boasts at the midway point of the season is the second-highest number of victories after 10 games in program history.
Points have come from all around the field for ASU, and 10 players have contributed goals so far this season.
Junior forward Karin Volpe leads the team for the third year in a row with four goals and 11 points. Junior midfielder Alexandra Elston claims eight points, including three goals and two assists, and freshman forward Courtney Tinnin leads the team with five assists.
On the other side of the field, senior defender Liz Harkin and senior goalkeeper Briana Silvestri have held Sun Devil opposition to less than a goal per game.
The Sun Devils will enter Pac-10 play this weekend, as they take on both No. 23 USC and No. 3 UCLA in Los Angeles.
In addition to ASU, USC and UCLA, nationally-ranked teams coming from the Pac-10 include No. 1 Stanford and No. 21 California.
