You’ve seen him rocking the mullet on the football field and also sporting some crazy facial hair, but once you get to know senior linebacker Travis Goethel, he wants you to know that he is actually an average nice guy.
On the football field he is one of the reasons that ASU boasts the top defense in the Pac-10.
Goethel led ASU’s dominant day last weekend against Washington State with five tackles, two of which came for a loss.
Here is a little bit more about ASU’s senior linebacker that you might not know.
Q: What happened to the facial hair that you were growing out earlier?
A: That was just me messing around during the summer time. I grew a beard out and it got a little bit too hot and itchy on my face.
Q: Are we going to see that or the mullet come make another appearance?
A: I had a mustache the first week of the season too. I don’t know (if it will make a re-appearance), it was just me messing around.
Q: What is something interesting about you that people probably don’t know?
A: Something interesting about me is that I am actually a really nice guy.
Q: What type of music do you like to listen to?
A: Pretty much I like everything. From classic rock to hip hop really.
Q: Who would you call your favorite artist?
A: That is pretty tough, I’d say Notorious BIG.
Q: What is your favorite place to eat in Tempe?
A: I like Pita Pit, Port of Subs; I actually like to eat at a lot of different places. I like the Chuckbox, too.
Q: Which one of your teammates would win on So You Think You Can Dance?
A: I am going to say Dimitri Nance. There isn’t anyone on defense that would. He is the best dancer on the team, I’d say.
Q: What was it like playing up in that cold Pullman weather?
A: That was horrible, real horrible. I came back and my lungs were all messed up and my nose was running all the time. Playing in the cold isn’t very fun.
