ASU women’s basketball coach Charli Turner Thorne announced Wednesday that Adrianne Thomas has signed a letter of intent to play for the Sun Devils starting in the 2010-2011 season.

Thomas is a guard out of Summit High School in Fontana, Calif., where she was named the Sunkist League Most Valuable Player three times. She was also a First-Team All-Sunkist League and First-Team All-CIF Southern Section selection last season.

“[Thomas] is a powerful, explosive scoring combo guard who will fit perfectly with our up-tempo offense and aggressive pressuring defense,” Turner Thorne said, according to ASU media relations. “Adrianne is an extremely tough and smart competitor who had outstanding coaching through her high school and club programs. I predict she will adapt to the college game very quickly.”

ASU also had a verbal commitment from Cassie Harberts, who was the No. 2-ranked forward and No. 11 overall prospect in the 2010 signing class according to ESPNU HoopGurlz, but she de-committed last week and signed with USC, where she originally pledged to play last spring before former coach Mark Trakh resigned.
