ASU gymnastics coach John Spini wants one thing and one thing only.

“I’m trying to figure out what’s going to get us to a national championship,” Spini said.

As ASU junior Mary Atkinson goes, so do the Sun Devils.

It is no coincidence that Atkinson’s two best performances have also come on the same evenings as the team’s two best showings.

For the fifth straight week, the ASU women’s gymnastics team will battle a ranked opponent when it takes on No. 8 Stanford on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena.

The ASU women’s gymnastics team heads to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to try to accomplish what the men’s basketball team couldn’t last Saturday.
