The Arizona Board of Regents has approved an extension on the contract of Arizona State University President Michael Crow.

Crow’s contract was set to expire June 30, 2012. Under the terms of the new contract, he will continue his appointment through June 30, 2017.

ABOR voted in Flagstaff on Thursday for the extension.

The terms of the contract do not affect his current salary or benefits.

Crow has been ASU’s 16th president since July 1, 2002, leaving his position as executive vice provost at Columbia University.

Crow has led the New American University initiative during his tenure at ASU and increased student enrollment, which now exceeds 70,000.
