Tempe Police reported the following incidents on Wednesday:
A 24-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of possessing narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia on the corner of Southern Avenue and Rural Road, according to a police report.
An officer pulled the woman over for a civil violation and suspended license, police reported.
The officer intended to tow the vehicle after a routine search of the woman and the vehicle, according to the report.
The officer searched the woman’s purse and found a scale with residue on it, police reported.
The woman admitted that the scale was used to weigh out methamphetamines but it did not belong to her, according to the report.
The officer did a search of the woman and found a small plastic baggy containing a substance later identified as heroin in her left front pocket, according to the report.
The officer arrested the woman, and she later confirmed the heroin was hers and had received the drug from an ex-boyfriend, police reported.
The woman was transported and booked into Tempe City Jail and was released pending drug charges, according to the report.
A 36-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Monday at the 2000 block of West Garden Drive on suspicion of second degree trespassing, possession of burglary tools and the unlawful use of a motor vehicle, according to a police report.
Police reported an officer had attempted to stop a Honda Civic that was reported stolen.
The officer used the emergency lights and audible siren of his squad car but the vehicle drove away at a high speed, police reported.
The vehicle crashed after a short pursuit, and the man and an unknown driver fled from the vehicle in opposite directions, the police reported.
The man and unknown driver ran into a neighborhood as a helicopter and two K-9 units chased them, according to the report.
One of the police dogs found the man hiding in the backyard of a house after jumping over the fence, police reported.
The man had locked himself in the laundry room at the rear of the home, according to the report.
The police attempted to open the door but the man held the deadbolt shut, according to police.
The officers were forced to pry open the door, which led to the man’s arrest, according to the report.
Police searched the man and found two “jiggle” keys that were used as burglary tools, according to the report.
Police searched the stolen vehicle and discovered a torn-apart steering column with exposed wires and hardware, and a screwdriver located in the ignition, according to the report.
The man was booked into jail and held to see a judge, police reported.
