Tempe Police reported the following incident Tuesday:
- A 27-year-old Chandler man was arrested March 7 on the 600 block of East Detroit Street on suspicion of two counts of third-degree burglary, according to a police report.Witnesses told police two men were seen taking items from cars in parking lots at the LA Fitness Club on the 7000 block of South Priest Drive and Life Time Fitness on the 1600 block of West Ruby Drive, police reported.
Two LA Fitness employees saw the man shatter a car window around 4:45 p.m. as the other man sat in a maroon Buick parked three to four spaces away, according to the report.
The employees noticed the man because he was not in fitness or gym clothing, police reported.
The employees took down the Buick’s license plate information and left the parking lot, according the report.
The car owner told officers she was missing her purse that contained her driver’s license and debit cards, police reported.
Witnesses told police they saw the man break another car’s front passenger window at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Life Time Fitness, according to the report.
Both men left in the same maroon Buick, police reported.
Three bags of property were missing from the second vehicle, according to the report.
Officers conducted a traffic stop at Chandler Boulevard and Sunset Drive for the Buick, police reported.
The man did not speak with police after being detained, according to the report.
Officers saw one of the missing credit cards with the woman’s name in the center console of the vehicle, police reported.
Police also found two purses in the trunk, according to the report.
Both men were arrested, transported and booked at Tempe City Jail, police reported.
