Cardinals becoming a team to be reckoned with

Ladies and gentlemen, the Arizona Cardinals are 3-0 so far this season and are atop the NFC West — with Kevin Kolb at the quarterback position to boot.

Arizona has beaten Seattle, New England and Philadelphia en route to its best start since 1974, when the team was still in St. Louis.

Granted, the offense could use a major tune up, but this Arizona defense should start getting credit for being one of the best in the league behind the scheme of defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

The Cardinals defense is ranked 10th in total defense (949 yards) and second in points allowed (40), just behind Seattle (39).

In an age when offense dominates, it’s refreshing to see a team so defensive minded.

Behind the veteran leadership of safeties Adrian Wilson and Kerry Rhodes, young talent, such as linebacker Daryl Washington and defensive end Calais Campbell, have excelled.

Fresh off a 27-6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, who were first in total offense coming into the game, the Arizona Cardinals are slowly making their presence felt around the league.

This Cardinals team will make the playoffs solely due to its defense. If the anemic offense can improve, Arizona could be Super Bowl-bound by the time January rolls around.
