Man arrested on suspicion of stealing cup from Starbucks on Downtown campus
ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 54-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Oct. 15 on the 100 block of East Taylor Street on suspicion of theft, according to a police report.An officer arrived at the Downtown campus Starbucks after an employee saw the man take a cup without paying for it, police reported.An employee pointed to the man, who was still sitting outside Starbucks when police arrived, according to the report.
The man told police he just went into the store to get some water, but officers noticed a bulge in the man’s waist, police reported.
Police searched the man and found a black plastic cup with a Starbucks logo estimated at $19.95, according to the report.
The man also had a warrant from Pima County and had been arrested on suspicion of stealing a bike from Taylor Mall, police reported.
The man was banned from entering any building on the Downtown campus, according to the report.
- A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested Oct. 13 on the 700 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of criminal trespassing, according to a police report.Police found the man, who is an ASU student, passed out near one of the buildings at the Vista Del Sol apartments with a bike, police reported.Police smelled alcohol on the man and identified him from a driver’s license after he did not give officers his real name, according to the report.
The man told police he was visiting a friend who lives at Vista Del Sol, police reported.
Police told the man to leave, but he re-entered the complex and hid from officers, according to the report.
Police saw the man jump one of the fences to another building, police reported.
Officers blocked off the exits on the second floor so the man could not escape, according to the report.
They cited the man on suspicion of criminal trespassing and released him, but the man returned later that day and told police he was there to get his long board from his friend, police reported.
Vista Del Sol staff reported that no one with the name the man provided lived in the building, according to the report.
