While I will cover the football team for the remainder of the season, this is likely the final time I will have an opinion piece published in The State Press. From being the beat writer for the ASU swim and dive program, to serving as assistant sports editor to covering the football team for two seasons, I have seen and written about a lot for the newspaper. As I get set to graduate, I simply want to say “thank you” to you — the readers.
Without the readers, a newspaper means nothing. Whether it was comments on the story, tweets or emails I have heard from a number of you over the years, I have enjoyed each and every interaction.
Talking sports with the readers and providing them with information about teams they passionately follow is truly the best part of the job. Yes, I love watching sports on my own, but sharing my thoughts and experiences has made everything more meaningful.
ASU is home to some remarkable stories and outstanding student athletes, and I have thoroughly enjoyed bringing those stories to you.
I hope you all continue to read The State Press for the rest of the semester, but once again I simply want to leave you all by simply thanking you for the continued readership, support and enjoyable interactions.
