Tempe Police are searching for a man who attempted to sexually assault a 19-year-old female student early Wednesday morning.

Police described him as a Hispanic male in his late 40s or early 50s, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with a chubby build.

He allegedly entered the student’s apartment on the 900 block of South Terrace Road around 3 a.m., according to Tempe Police.

He attempted to sexually assault her, but she was able to fight him off and fled the apartment, police said.

The woman did not know the man, and Tempe Police are working with the ASU Police Department to alert students. Officers are still questioning residents of the apartment complex.

Tempe Police urge anyone with information to call 480-350-8311 or the Silent Witness hotline at 480-946-6377.
