Tempe Police reported the following incidents Friday:
A 33-year-old New Mexico woman was arrested Nov. 23 at South Roosevelt Street and West Fairmont Drive on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, according to a police report.
Police arrived at the scene and saw the woman walking away from her Ford Fiesta, according to the report.
The woman’s car broke down because the clutch burned out and there was a flat tire and a large hole in the sidewall, police reported.
A Breathalyzer test showed she had a blood alcohol concentration level of .393, according to the report.
The woman told police she drove the car after fighting with her boyfriend, police reported.
Officers found an open can of beer in the center console and poured it out, according to the report.
Because the woman’s high alcohol concentration prevented police from taking the woman directly to the Tempe City Jail, officers took her to Tempe St. Luke’s hospital where a medical screening showed her blood level at more than .4 percent, police reported.
The woman was then brought to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked on suspicion of a third DUI and driving with a suspended license, according to the report.
A 40-year-old Mesa man was arrested Nov. 23 at the 1200 block of South Farmer Avenue on suspicion of aggravated assault, according to a police report.
The man struck a pedestrian as he was pulling in to a parking space behind another vehicle, police reported.
The pedestrian’s leg was trapped between the two vehicles and resulted in permanent knee damage, according to the report.
Police noticed the man slurred his speech and had bloodshot and watery eyes, police reported.
The man refused to take field sobriety tests but showed poor balance while talking to police, according to the report.
Police brought the man to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
