Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:
- Two Tempe women were arrested Friday on the 1600 block of East Southern Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting and dangerous drug possession, according to a police report.
The 22-year-old and 23-year-old entered Sally Beauty Supply and placed $62 worth of merchandise inside false compartments in their purses, police reported.
An officer approached the women and searched their purses, according to the report.
The officer found a bag containing Alprazolam pills in one of the purses and a bag containing Oxycodone pills in the other, police reported.
The women said they did not have prescriptions for them, according to the report.
The women were arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail, where they were booked and released pending charges, police reported.
- A 23-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Friday on the 15000 block of North 61st Lane on suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.
An officer pulled over the vehicle the man was driving after he made an improper right turn, police reported.
The officer asked the man to exit the vehicle after he smelled alcohol on the man’s breath, according to the report.
A search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing marijuana in the crease of the driver seat, police reported.
The man said he did not know why the marijuana was there but that it might belong to a friend who had been in the car earlier, according to the report.
The man was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was released on the DUI charge and held pending the drug charges.
