Purse stolen from art building

ASU Police reported the following incident Tuesday:

Police are investigating a theft at the Art Building on the 900 block of South Forest Avenue after an instructor noticed that her purse was taken from her unlocked office while she taught a class in an adjacent room, according to a police report.

The purse and its contents, including a $200 dollar Canon camera and $28 dollars in cash, were taken from the woman's purse while she taught a class in the afternoon, police reported.

Police recovered the purse in a stairwell near her office with her wallet and various bank cards still present, according to the report.

The woman said she remembered seeing an unfamiliar college-aged man, with a slender build and wearing a red-checkered shirt, loitering outside her office, police reported.

The woman said she knew most of the students who frequent the fourth floor, and the man seemed out of place, according to the report.

The woman does not believe any of her students are involved, police reported.
