Sun Devil Streetwear: Music festival fashion guide

Spring is finally here, which means that music festival season is upon us. Whether you are heading to the first weekend of Coachella or eagerly waiting for Sasquatch or Lollapalooza to arrive, festival fashion is on your mind. Every year festival goers consider music festivals as a runway and strategically plan what they will wear with high aspirations of making it onto one of the many street style blog slideshows. If you are a rookie trying to master the art of festival fashion or a professional looking for more inspiration, here are some tips:

1. Find the magic medium between comfy and edgy.

Any music festival is your chance to try something new. If you are deciding between a floral lace crop top or one of your many gold ASU T-shirts, the crop top is the obvious choice. Music festivals give you a chance to experiment with your style. But make sure you are comfortable in your outfit, especially if you are camping out.

2. Bring good shoes.

Just remember you will be outside the whole time, so you don't want to be wearing heels and leather pants when it's 90 degrees outside. It's best to stick to shoes or boots that won't kill your feet while watching Grizzly Bear or Youth Lagoon.

3. Accessorize

Put on lots of rings or even color your hair with hair chalk. Have fun and be a creative free spirit by spicing up your outfit with fun hats and bracelets.

4. Have fun, but drink water. Yes, water.

Yes there might be a lot of other things to drink, but don't forget your most important accessory: water. Your killer outfit won't get you on a street style slideshow if you are miserable and dehydrated.

5. Last minute outfit run.

If you are dying to embrace your inner music festival free spirit, but you only have sweatpants and work clothes on hand, hike on over to Sunset Clothing Exchange (University and Roosevelt) or Buffalo Exchange for a quick festival attire makeover. Thrift stores or clothing exchanges allow you to find exotic attire that will make your outfit pop.
