Tuesday night's Undergraduate Student Government meeting in Tempe had its largest attendance of organizations and students of the year as the senate passed appropriation bills and confirmed a Supreme Court Justice.

Senate Bill 52, an act approving funds in the amount of $1,600 to the Prison Education Awareness Club, passed after the club was originally denied appropriations because of a miscommunication between the club and USG.

Senate Bill 54, an act approving funds for the graphic design student association, passed and appropriated $780.51 for the organization.

Senate Bill 55, an act approving funds for the ASU Dance Marathon, passed and gave the charity event $2,350.

The two budget bills on the agenda, SB 56 for spring appropriations and SB 57 for college council funding, both passed, with SB 56 passing unanimously. The remaining funds left over from the college council budget in the amount of $5,252.78 will be transferred to appropriations.

The Senate confirmed Jenifer Lloyd as Supreme Court Justice after Tempe USG President Jordan Davis presented her.

Senate Bill 51, an act to approve funds for the American Indian Heritage Organization presented by Sen. Ao Jiao, passed through the senate on the second try of the evening after failing to pass upon first vote. The bill was called to be reopened later in the meeting in which it passed.

After the bill portion of the meeting, Sen. Jordan Hibbs called upon Senate President Alexis Gonzalez to form an Ad Hoc Oversight Committee.

Hibbs said the senate needs to hold itself accountable.

Davis said he agreed with the idea to form a committee and that he didn't think there was any problem with having accountability.

Opposition arose over the committee after Senate President Pro Tempore Tristian Trevino called Hibbs' integrity into question by saying Hibbs had missed a committee meeting earlier in the year then later lied about it and attended a fashion show. He went on to say that Hibbs was not the person to form the committee.

Hibbs said to her knowledge she had attended every committee meeting and that Trevino was completely inaccurate in his accusations, saying that she had only missed the one senate meeting to attend a charity fashion show called Fashionably Pink and that she did not lie about it.

She said if there were any concerns about her being chairperson she would be fine with someone else being the chair of the committee.

Gonzalez said she would create the committee and create an application process for chairperson but was tabling the discussion for the night.
