The Tempe Undergraduate Student Government voted on a summer cycle appropriation bill during its second regular session Tuesday night and confirmed new staff.
USG President Cassidy Possehl announced an amendment that the new event cycle will be pushed 10 days back and will open Sept. 5 at 12:01 a.m., two minutes after the general cycle will close because OrgSync doesn’t allow two open cycles at the same time.
“Hopefully, we won’t have too many organizations affected by that,” she said. “If there’re any kind of events they are having beforehand, I’m hoping they will come to us and we can figure out some kind of plan without any of them quitting the general budget.”
SB 27, an act on approving summer cycle appropriations was introduced by Sen. Matthew Ruland and passed.
The previous senate appropriated more money to organizations than was available by mistake. They had to go back and take some money back from each club. The new senate had to audit the bill and make sure all the numbers added up.
“It was an honest mistake; they didn’t mean to do it,” Ruland said. “This time, as chairmen, we’re not going to appropriate more money than we have; we are not going to go over it.”
SB 28, an act to approve summer cycle college council funding was proposed by Sen. Eric Wilson and passed.
SB 29 to confirm Saumya Gupta as the 2014-15 Parliamentarian was passed.
All bills to confirm new staff were passed on the second read.
