ASU football has boldly taken its uniform combinations to a level where few — outside of Eugene, Oregon — have gone before.
But against New Mexico on Saturday, the team won't be bucking tradition. The Sun Devils announced Wednesday that they're sticking with their classic road uniform, with a gold helmet and gold pants augmenting the white road jersey with maroon numbering and lettering and a thin gold outline.

If the gear looks familiar, it's because it is: ASU wore a variation of the traditional gold-white-gold combination against Washington State in Pullman, Washington, on Halloween last year, instead sporting maroon pants. The Sun Devils routed the hapless Cougars 55-21. WSU wore all gray uniforms with red helmets in that game last October, that conceptually are similar ASU's new "anthracite" jerseys, albeit with copper as a secondary color, and white helmets.
After not repeating a single uniform combination during the 2013 regular season, and recently unveiling its 10th different helmet design, the Sun Devils have plenty of opportunity to mix and match outfits that have caused some to label ASU as an innovator in athletic fashion.
