Embracing life outside the shadows

RRR Banner

The saying that those with whom you surround yourself has a direct impact on you is just as apparent as the notion that the environment in which you live has a direct correlation with the life you choose to live.

My friends and I recently decided to take a well-needed road trip to Flagstaff. The trip came after realizing I had begun to fall into the funk of an ill-balanced pattern of living. My emotions were all over the place, finding myself feeling sad, happy, and everything in between. I had slowly but surely began to loose sight of the important things and focus on the things of little matter. And most disappointing, I had begun to allow other’s view of me to affect the view of myself.

Once in Flagstaff, the chill wind that swept across my face, blowing my hair back, also brought in fresh air and a new perspective. I found my spirit lifted and my soul rejuvenated. It was as though I had willingly but unknowingly been living in a bleak shadow of myself that caused an unwanted funk, but with fresh air, I had found myself again.

Life Lesson #6: We are breakable, but certainly not unfixable.

The greatest part of finding yourself in the chaos of life, is not only coming to terms but realizing what broke you was not worth the tears, disappointment or even your acknowledgement.

As always, life will at times leave you wanting to escape and to just take a few steps back to clear your head. But instead of allowing life to beat you to the ground, all that is needed is a new perspective… a new means of evaluation.

There will always be uncharted territory, but it’s there so that something may be created of it. And there will always be a moment where you feel drained but you must step out of your shadow.

Live like real people do, be nervous, but embracing.
