Tempe Police: Bush fails to hide man avoiding police

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:

A 49-year-old Tempe man was arrested Dec. 25 on the 2100 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of having an outstanding warrant, dangerous drug possession and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.

The man was originally contacted by officers about his outstanding warrants, and he tried to hide in a bush to avoid arrest, police reported.

When officers found the man, they searched him and found a bag of meth in his pocket, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.

A 35-year-old Guadalupe man was arrested Dec. 27 at South Priest Drive and West Baseline Road on suspicion of dangerous drug possession, interfering with police and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.

Officers saw the man crossing the road at a place without a crosswalk, which was slowing down traffic, and the officer made a U-turn to contact the man, police reported.

When the man saw the officer coming to speak to him, he attempted to get away on his bike, but the chain broke and he fell off the bike, according to the report.

Officers found a container of meth in the man’s pocket, which he said was his, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked, according to the report.
