PHOTOS: Roosevelt Row protesters stage funeral march to support GreenHAUS, arts community

Local business owners and supporters of Roosevelt Row gathered outside Bodega dressed in funeral garb to protest gentrification in the Arts District on Thursday, Jan. 29. Although it was raining, that did not stop them from marching around downtown Phoenix with a wooden coffin to symbolize the death of the arts community. The protest is a reaction to plans to bulldoze art galleries along Roosevelt Row and replace them with high-rise luxury apartments.
